The majority of warriors in the High Elven armies are citizens rather than professional soldiers. This militia is a form of the part-time army in which all take their turn to serve, every Elf providing his own battle gear in defence of his home and country.
When he is inducted into the citizen levy, a keen-eyed young Elf will begin his training in the Archers. Lacking the battle experience of his older brethren, he fights from a distance - experiencing the carnage of war from a relatively safe place.
